Casino Evangelist
June 26th, 2008 by adminSo a couple of weeks a go some Jehova Witnesses came to my door step in New Hampshire to tell me how I am doomed if I do not see the light and convert into the right path. I was nice to them and nodded and agreed with them on every point they made. Not because I was swallowing what they preached hook line and sinker but I felt pity for them. I was thinking about all the people that were gonna be rude to them and cuss them out and there was no need to make their day any harder.
I like solving problems, even problems that do not concern me. So when they left I could not help but think where these Bible warriors will go to face the least resistance and I came up with a sweet idea, a Casino.
Last weekend I was at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, which is supposedly the biggest casino in the world. I was walking around, exploring, admiring and doing a little betting. There were all sorts of people there. Fat, skinny, mum, dad, ugly and beautiful all in their respective sections at the casino and what I noticed was that they all had one thing in common, they all thought they were lucky.
Now people who frequent Casinos have to believe in God or at least believe in a supernatural force that will tip their odds in winning a bet. Fundamentally most games at a Casino cannot be mathematically won. Yes you can increase your probabilities of winning a round of roullette but at the end of the day it is still probability. There is no way to guarantee that you are not gonna be carried out of the Casino shirtless and you hands covering your crotch cause you lost your pants too. So inherently either these people believe in the supernatural or they are just plain stupid any way you twist it, it is an easier job for the evangelist. In the parable of the sower in the Bible these guys are described as the fertile soil, they just need to be directed in what direction/God to believe in
.
