I wish bubbles made me happy

July 22nd, 2008 by admin

One year has gone by so quickly, in barely a month I am gonna be a year older and hopefully wiser (yeah right). The more I think about it, in many ways I wish I was still a kid. I wish I gained pleasure from blowing bubbles, running around giggling as I pop every single one. I look at them and envy the fact that the simplest things make them happy, make them laugh and best of all that they have no responsibilities, they are not even responsible for their own lives. Ignorance truly is bliss.

The ironic thing about this is that when I was a kid all I wanted to do was grow up. I wanted to drive a car, stay up late and be allowed to watch that R rated movie. Growing up is overrated. I remember when seeing people on TV kiss used to make me tingle with excitement, now I know people who have a monthly subscription to some crazy ass porn just to achieve that same tingle and excitement that was once generated by a kiss. LOL (you know yourself).

I hate the fact that I now care what the international trading price of gas is, what the tax rate in New York State is or even what the average salary of a software engineer after a bachelors degree is. I want to go back to the days when my utmost priority was to score the most goals in soccer during break time or know who in my class had the fastest time in Luigi Raceway on Mario Kart 64. My parents warned me that this day will come, but I did not listen. Every time I said I wish I was 18, they would be like “We wish we were your age” and I would be like “Why? being 12 sucks you don’t get to do anything you want” but it was a lie when your 12 you get to do everything you want, I just didn’t know it.

Yo where the time machine at?

Makes a lot of sense….. just thought about the fact that on the other hand, growing up is one of those things you do not have a choice about…. it is inevitable….. lol

I really do wish as well that I did not have to grow up! Lol

Big stones! I got the time machine right here beside me…but it only goes forward, one second at a time!

I think overall, there is something to enjoy for every age you’re at. think about it ;D

Doesn’t it make you wonder why babies and little kids cry soo much, even with no problems.

Well said (as i stand and applaud). You hit the nail on the head. I went back to my elementary school 3 years ago on the last day of school. None of the kids wanted to leave. They were saying, “Mr. Jackson (Phys Ed teacher), we won’t see you til next year. What are we gonna do over the summer time? Well, miss you.” I was shocked. I’ll never forget it. At that moment, I knew the difference between a kid and an adult. I used to say that I’ll tell my kids that there is no santa claus cause I thought that was cheesy. No, not anymore. I’ll lie to them so they can hang on to their childhood and shield them from the shittyness of the world for as long as I can.

Man this guy this is deep man, I’m still waiting to grow up, i don’t have any responsibilities myself so in your words i’m still a kid. Maybe that’s the way it is meant to be so i can remind people what it’s like, maybe that’s my purpose…. nah! Anyways man keep them blogs coming, you gotta have a place to release the nostalgia. Onelove.

Incidentally, i kinda got a glimpse of the real world and i was too scared to comprehend it, so i sank back into my childish ways.

@Obi Your right there are different things that make you happy in different stages in your life, but don’t you miss the happiness from simple things? now many of them just seem dumb.

@xantos: Dont worry im gonna bring you back a whole container of liquid soap

@kimmy: Man I envy your ways. LOl

I think you can create the things you want to enjoy Adim. And also realize that people, positions, pleasure and money don’t really bring happiness. That’s the one thing that children understood.
